Private terminals in the Gulf
The Gulf's private terminals began as government and royal VIP facilities, which is why they're so lavishly built. Several are now quietly open to any traveller who books ahead.
The Gulf does this on a different scale. Dubai's Al Majlis and Abu Dhabi's VIP Terminal were built for visiting heads of state and have the marble to prove it; both now take bookings from the public. Bahrain's Awal rounds out a region where the terminals are grand and the prices, tellingly, are often quoted only on request.
Worth knowing before you ask: in the Gulf the published price is the exception, so factor in a quote request and a day's notice.
